Synopsis: Mr. Gunasena Vidana Pathirana, 25 years ago as an undergraduate was studying in the same university with Samadara Wickremasekera, a daughter from a feudal family from his own village. Gradually their casual meetings grow into a love. When the elders of the feudal family get to know of their affair the young couple sneak away to a distance village at Horowpathana. They beget three children. At the birth of their third child, Piumi the daughter, Samadara dies Gunasena devotes himself to bring up the children. Thus twenty five years later now, he comes back to the village of his birth with his children with the intention of staying in the house of his bosom pal a fellow teacher, Sirisena. It is when he walks into the village grocery that we begin this story. At the grocery, Wilbert, the driver of the village feudal family that of Gunasena’s dead wife Samadara’s family happen to over hear the conversation there and recognizes Gunasena. When Wilbert reports this to the now Senior of the Walauwa (the Manor) Ranabahu, his eldest son, in a fit of fury grabs his shot guns and rushes out to shoot Gunasena. But the Senior Ranabahu Wickremasekera hold him back. We are revealed the reason for his out burst even after all this time. It is to this dead Samadara that the whole inheritance is bequeathed. In a series of incident, it is exposed how the people at the Walauwa conspire to prevent this inheritance being passed on to the children of Samadara. Gunasena’s son Buddhika Vidana Pathirana is studying in school in the city. He one day comes home with his friends Thivanka and Vijitha. On seeing Piumi, Thivanka falls in love with her. However, during one of their frequest visits to Gunasena House. Thivanka and Vijitha heckles Shiromi and her friend. Shiromi is the daughter of the Wickremasekera the elder brother’s daughter. On hearing what happened in the bus, he gets Wilbert to way lay Buddhika on his way back home after seeing of his friends. Wilbert attacks Buddhika and breaks his leg. Buddhika had to be hospitalized. Siriwardena is the only one in village who dares to help Gunasena. Here too he helps Buddhika at the hospital. Meanshile, Thivanka entices Piumi to come with him. He takes her to an abandoned house. The Police nabs them. The school sacks her. Thus humiliated. Buddhika goes in search of Thivanka. Buddhika is scolded by Thivanka’s uncle Samarasekara who happens to be a lawyer. Buddhika is taken into custody for attempting cause grievous harm to a lawyer. On hearing of this incident, the Wimalasekera family be friends Samarasekera and conspire to have Buddhika sent to prison for a long period. They get Thivanka stabbed to death and implicate Buddhika’s the culprit. Gunasena knows his son’s innocence and is determined to find justice done! Will he be able to achieve it?
